La semana pasada me fui al "pueblo" de una amiga. Asistí a su boda. Un detallito sin importancia: arrobita y yo -sin contar mi amiga- éramos las únicas españolas. Las amigas de la novia. Las amigas de "una" de las novias.
Yo me tomé muy a pecho mi función y decidí cumplir con la tradición de decir unas palabras. Si, si, tradición. Es que no os he dicho que el pueblo actual de mi amiga es "Nueva York". Así que, si recordáis las pelis americanas, se lleva que digan unas palabras por ambos lados. Y agradecimientos, y risas, y emoción, y... y todo en inglés.
Como cualquier españolita tengo un buen "nivel medio" de inglés hablado y escrito... Por eso, rehice el discurso varias veces. Buscando cada vez más la sencillez en el vocabulario. Nada de florituras a lo Góngora versus Quevedo.
Por si no controlaban tanto su propio idioma -de todo hay en la viña del Señor-, inicié mi discurso con un:
"My English is not very good. But I have the solution. I am de first person with subtitles".
En ese mismo instante, arrobita levantó un taco de folios, que llevábamos previamente impresos. Y procedió a hacerlos pasar al ritmo de mi discurso. Así no tenían excusa para perderse mis palabras.
Y estas fueron mis palabras:

We didn't also say:

Simply, we did it.
Later, Teresa changed work, flat, city and girlfriend...
and girlfriend... and girlfriend... and girlfriend...
Well, but she didn't change her friend... me (afortunally)
Say the family is imposed, but
the friends are chose.
I don't know who chose, you or me, but it did a great favor to me.
Even thousands of miles of me
I believe sincerely that, with Sandy?...
Shannon?...
Sabrina?.... (girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend)
Sara?... Yes, Sara!

you have found the authentic happiness and a new family.
